Procurement Specialist, Direct Materials (Reagents/ Lab Consumables)
The Procurement Specialist, Direct Materials (Reagents/Lab Consumables) at GenScript/ProBio is responsible for managing the end-to-end sourcing and procurement of direct materials and consumables essential for production. This role involves ensuring daily operations meet service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs), overseeing material planning for critical items, and driving strategic sourcing initiatives. The position reports to the Senior Procurement Manager and is based in Piscataway, NJ, or Redmond, WA.
Key responsibilities include overseeing material planning to meet inventory KPIs while ensuring continuity of supply, leading strategic sourcing and managing the procurement process for direct materials and consumables, developing alternative vendors for critical materials to mitigate supply chain risks, and conducting category management to identify cost-saving opportunities. The specialist will also leverage negotiation, analytical, and market research skills to drive cost reduction initiatives, execute vendor management by building supplier profiles and securing pricing contracts, and collaborate closely with production teams to provide effective procurement support.
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, with 2-4 years of experience in procurement focusing on direct materials. Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills are essential. Project management experience, particularly in procurement for lab projects, is preferred and will be considered a significant advantage. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to navigate a dynamic, fast-paced environment while adapting to shifting priorities and identifying opportunities.
The estimated salary range for this position is $55,000 to $70,000, based on experience. Compensation includes a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the well-being and professional growth of employees.
