Principal Software Engineer
Xometry is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join our Xometry Partner Experience Technology Organization. In this role as a senior individual contributor, you will guide software implementation across several engineering teams and influence decisions across our technology organization. You will bring deep expertise and technical leadership to help us build fast, reliable, and intuitive solutions that empower our partners – enabling them to more easily manage jobs, streamline operations, and maximize their growth potential within our manufacturing marketplace.
Responsibilities include hands-on technical leadership by writing and reviewing architectural plans for new projects and participating in their implementation. You will champion the adoption of a mix of traditional and cutting-edge technologies and methods, guiding the team to optimize existing practices and embrace new approaches when appropriate. Additionally, you will serve as a mentor to engineers across the organization, fostering skill growth through teaching and code reviews. Ensuring the delivery of superior software that exceeds customer expectations while aligning with strategic business timelines is paramount. Collaborating closely with product managers, designers, and company leadership, you will promote a culture of open communication, collaboration, and high standards.
The ideal candidate will have over 15 years of professional software development experience in a fast-paced, product-driven environment. Experience with marketplace products and scaling multi-sided platforms is highly desirable. Strong technical expertise in full-stack development is required, including backend development with Python, backend microservices and REST API design using Node.js, and frontend development with React and TypeScript, focusing on scalable UI design and usability. Proficiency with AWS, including deploying, monitoring, and scaling production workloads, is essential. Proven leadership skills, the ability to set technical direction, mentor engineers across levels, and influence product and business decisions are crucial. Excellent communication and collaboration abilities are necessary, with comfort engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels.
The estimated base salary range for new hires into this role is $148,000 to $193,000 annually, plus an annual bonus, depending on factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, and location.
