Principal Compliance & Security Engineer
Beast Industries, led by Jimmy Donaldson (MrBeast), is seeking a Principal Compliance & Security Engineer to establish and oversee the security and compliance framework for its diverse operations, including Step, Feastables, and media ventures. This role uniquely combines security engineering and compliance engineering responsibilities, offering an opportunity to build foundational security practices from the ground up in an AI-first environment.
The Principal Compliance & Security Engineer will be responsible for setting security standards across cloud infrastructure, applications, and data systems. Key duties include leading threat modeling and security reviews for high-risk products, managing vulnerability remediation, developing incident response protocols, and acting as the technical lead during PCI DSS and SOC 2 audits. Additionally, the role involves translating regulatory requirements into actionable engineering tasks and advising leadership on risk trade-offs.
Candidates should possess approximately 15 years of combined security engineering and compliance experience, with proven ownership of PCI DSS and SOC 2 in production environments. Strong expertise in cloud security (AWS/GCP), application security, threat modeling, and incident response is essential. A deep understanding of privacy and minor-protection regulations, such as COPPA, GDPR, and CCPA, and their application to technical controls is required. Experience with security automation, infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform), and relevant certifications (CISSP, CCSP, OSCP) are advantageous.
The compensation package includes a base salary ranging from $205,000 to $256,000, a 15% bonus, and equity. The position follows a hybrid work model, with an expectation of approximately three days per week in the San Mateo, California office.
