Outpatient Coder Claim Edits and Denials

Datavant is seeking experienced and credentialed outpatient coders to join our team in a fully remote capacity. In this position, you will be responsible for reviewing medical records and assigning accurate diagnosis and procedure codes. Your duties will include abstracting and entering coded data for hospital statistical and reporting requirements, communicating documentation improvement opportunities, and maintaining a coding accuracy rate of 95% or higher. Additionally, you will be expected to adhere to ethical standards and comply with all Health Information Management (HIM) Division policies.

The ideal candidate will possess AHIMA (RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or AAPC (CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC, CRC) certifications and have a minimum of 2 years of coding experience in a hospital or consulting role. Proficiency in multiple coding specialties, such as Same Day Surgery, Observation, Injections/Infusions, Ancillary, Emergency Department, and E/M leveling, is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills, experience with computerized encoding and abstracting software, and the ability to work remotely with excellent time management are essential.
