Canonical is seeking a Regional Sales Manager in North America to lead the direct sales team. This role involves driving revenue growth and expanding the company's presence in the region. Canonical is a leading provider of open-source software and operating systems, with its platform, Ubuntu, widely used in enterprise initiatives such as public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. The company operates globally with over 1,200 colleagues in more than 75 countries, emphasizing a distributed work environment and regular in-person team meetings to align on strategy and execution.

The Open Source Enterprise Sales Manager will be responsible for building and expanding strategic relationships, developing and owning sales engagement strategies, and increasing customer awareness of open-source capabilities on Canonical's Ubuntu platform. Key responsibilities include negotiating contracts and commercial business terms, delivering on targets and objectives, and providing a voice for partners and customers. The role also involves domestic and international travel to drive partnerships in person, aligning and supporting internal field teams, and working closely with marketing, sales engineering, and product management to achieve goals.

Candidates should have a proven track record of exceeding revenue targets in the technology sector, experience with Linux and open-source software, and an exceptional academic background. An undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling alternative narrative is required. The role demands confidence in communication, leadership, commitment to skills development and mentorship, and a passion for technology demonstrated through personal projects and initiatives. Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, accountability, and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural, multinational organization are essential. The position requires the ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events lasting up to two weeks, as well as more frequent travel to meet clients and partners as needed.

Canonical offers a distributed work environment with twice-yearly in-person team sprints, a personal learning and development budget of USD 2,000 per year, annual compensation reviews, recognition rewards, annual holiday leave, maternity and paternity leave, an Employee Assistance Program including a health and wellness platform, opportunities to travel to new locations to meet colleagues, and Priority Pass with travel upgrades for long-haul company events.

Canonical is a pioneering tech firm at the forefront of the global move to open source. As the publisher of Ubuntu, one of the most important open-source projects and the platform for AI, IoT, and the cloud, the company is changing the world of software. Canonical recruits globally and sets a high standard for its team members, expecting excellence to succeed in its mission. The company has been a fully distributed organization since its inception in 2004, offering a forward-thinking work environment that challenges employees to think differently, work smarter, learn new skills, and raise their game.
