Member of Technical Staff - Deployment & Compliance (Air-Gapped Infrastructure)
As a Member of Technical Staff specializing in Deployment & Compliance for Air-Gapped Infrastructure at xAI, you will be integral to the security and compliance of our classified AI inference platforms. Operating within a flat organizational structure, xAI emphasizes hands-on contributions and direct involvement in our mission to develop AI systems that accurately understand the universe and aid humanity in its pursuit of knowledge.
In this role, you will oversee the entire security compliance process for xAI's air-gapped GPU infrastructure program. Your responsibilities will include preparing Authorization to Operate (ATO) packages, evaluating Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) findings, documenting control implementations, managing Plan of Actions and Milestones (POAMs), compiling software approval lists, and producing the necessary security documentation to authorize facility operations. You will collaborate with Authorizing Officials, Third-Party Assessment Organizations (3PAOs), and the Chief Data Security Officer/Engineer (CDSO/E) to advance accreditation processes. Additionally, you will coordinate with the central Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) team to ensure alignment, while owning the compliance timeline for the program.
Ideal candidates will possess a strong technical background, with a deep understanding of Kubernetes, containerization, and networking infrastructure. This technical expertise will enable you to assess the applicability of STIG findings, write accurate control implementation statements, and identify compliance gaps that may have been overlooked by the engineering team. While you will not be responsible for writing Gatekeeper policies, a solid understanding of their function and how they satisfy control requirements is essential.
