Datavant is seeking a Medical Records Specialist I to join our team in New York, NY 10029. This onsite role offers an opportunity to contribute to our mission by managing patient health information with precision and confidentiality.

In this position, you will be responsible for processing requests for patient health information in accordance with company and facility policies. Your daily tasks will include maintaining confidentiality and security of privileged information, managing patient health records, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards. Additional duties involve preparing new patient charts, creating digital images of paperwork for electronic medical records, and responding to requests for patient records from both within the facility and external sources. You may also handle inbound and outbound calls, assist with patient walk-ins, and perform administrative tasks such as handling faxes, opening mail, and data entry.

The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or GED and be at least 18 years old. Basic computer proficiency and comfort with using phones, fax machines, printers, and other general office equipment are essential. Professional verbal and written communication skills in English are required. While not mandatory, experience in a healthcare environment, previous production or metric-based work experience, and in-person customer service experience are preferred. The ability to build relationships with on-site clients and customers, as well as a willingness to bring new ideas and process improvement suggestions to internal stakeholders, will be advantageous.

This full-time position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $16.50 to $19.69, depending on experience and qualifications. Employees are eligible for benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and tuition reimbursement. Paid time off, including major holidays, is also provided. Please note that post-offer health screenings and proof of vaccinations may be required to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
