Manager, Legal & Compliance
Headout is seeking a Manager of Legal & Compliance to oversee the entire contract lifecycle, including developing and implementing contracting strategies, negotiating and administering contracts, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance, and managing intellectual property assets and data privacy programs. This role is based in Bengaluru and requires a proactive, business-oriented individual capable of independently driving legal risk mitigation strategies while enabling business growth.
Key responsibilities include developing and implementing the organization's contracting strategy to align with business objectives, overseeing the entire contract lifecycle from drafting to renewal, leading contract negotiations, and fostering strong relationships with external partners. The role also involves managing the organization's intellectual property portfolio, ensuring protection and strategic use, supporting corporate compliance, developing and managing a comprehensive data privacy program, identifying and mitigating potential legal risks, collaborating with cross-functional teams, leveraging technology to improve legal processes, and maintaining accurate records and reports on contract status and intellectual property.
The ideal candidate should hold an LL.B with 8–10 years of strong legal experience, either in-house or at top-tier law firms, with a solid grasp of cross-border legal matters and commercial contracts. They should have a proven track record of independently managing end-to-end commercial contracts, with exposure to legal frameworks in the US, EU, UAE, and India. Familiarity with corporate compliance, intellectual property rights, and data privacy laws such as GDPR and CCPA is essential. Certifications like CIPP/E or CIPM are a strong plus. Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills, along with experience with legal tech tools and Contract Lifecycle Management software, are preferred.
