Manager Data Scientist | Engagement & Platform
Wellhub is seeking a Manager Data Scientist to join our Engagement & Platform team in Brazil. This remote position offers the opportunity to work from anywhere within the country. As a Data Science Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the machine learning and experimentation strategies behind our engagement system, focusing on developing models and AI agents that deliver dynamic, personalized experiences to our users.
In this role, you will design and develop machine learning models for outreach personalization, including contextual bandits, reinforcement learning, and classification models. You will also create AI agents that generate dynamic, personalized nudge content and conversational interventions. Your responsibilities will include designing and analyzing large-scale A/B tests and experimentation frameworks to evaluate these models and strategies, defining success metrics, and ensuring statistically sound experimentation practices. Additionally, you will collaborate on the design of data pipelines and event schemas, ensuring high-quality data for real-time decision-making and offline analysis. Monitoring frameworks for short-term engagement metrics, longer-term retention, and intervention fatigue will also be under your purview.
The ideal candidate will possess a BSc, Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a related field. You should have at least 8 years of professional experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, or Applied AI roles, with a minimum of 3 years in people management, leading and developing data science teams. Strong proficiency in Python and experience with machine learning frameworks such as Vowpal Wabbit or PyTorch are essential. A solid foundation in experimentation, A/B testing, and large-scale experimentation design and analysis is required, along with experience working with Generative AI systems in production environments. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate product goals into measurable, data-driven solutions are crucial. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with Product and Engineering teams are also necessary.
