Legal Entity Controller
Stripe is seeking a Legal Entity Controller to join its International Accounting Stripe Delivery Center team in Bengaluru. This role involves performing month-end accounting processes to support rapid global growth, including financial close and analysis, audit and regulatory compliance, and reporting. The position requires ownership of statutory financial statement preparation, audit review, and adoption of financial statements with the board of directors. The Legal Entity Controller will collaborate with local service providers to ensure timely and accurate compliance and filing requirements, and work with cross-functional partners such as Tax, Treasury, and Accounting to maintain compliance with US GAAP and local GAAPs.
Key responsibilities include executing monthly and quarterly close activities, such as manual journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analyses, and analytical reviews. The role also involves producing internal management reporting and supporting external audits. The Legal Entity Controller is expected to standardize and centralize tasks, own problems beyond processes or projects, and partner with multiple cross-functional stakeholders to develop and improve controllership processes. Additionally, the role focuses on scaling financial processes through automation and standardization.
The ideal candidate holds an accountancy qualification (e.g., CA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with over 8 years of relevant accounting experience and a degree in Accounting or Finance. Proven experience in the monthly close process, journal preparation and posting, audit, and exposure to accounting systems is essential. A working knowledge of US GAAP, strong analytical skills, and proficiency in Excel are required. The candidate should possess a proactive attitude, a passion for creating new systems and solving problems through infrastructure and automation, and the ability to work cross-functionally and with different cultures. Experience with internal controls and flexibility in adapting to changing requirements are also important.
