Stripe is seeking a data-focused marketing lawyer to join its expanding legal team as Legal Counsel for EMEA Marketing. This role involves providing dedicated legal support to Stripe's Marketing, Communications, and Design organizations, focusing on the EMEA region. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing and scaling legal support frameworks for these teams, ensuring compliance with data protection laws and managing complex technology and commercial agreements.
Key responsibilities include advising the Marketing organization on commercial, marketing, and privacy issues specific to the EMEA region, reviewing Privacy Impact Assessments for proposed marketing activities, and collaborating with Privacy, Privacy Engineering, and marketing leaders to establish compliant data practices. The role also entails ensuring that marketing technology platforms and data collection practices comply with GDPR and other relevant data protection laws, drafting and negotiating complex agreements to support marketing initiatives, and monitoring legislative developments within EMEA to provide actionable compliance strategies. The ideal candidate will have over six years of relevant legal experience, particularly in drafting and negotiating technology agreements and managing data protection issues within a marketing or commercial context. Deep proficiency in data protection frameworks like GDPR, especially as they apply to sponsored events, CRM practices, and vendor relationships, is essential. Strong understanding of data licensing, data usage rights, and consumer privacy issues is required. The candidate should possess a proactive mindset, exceptional communication skills, a strong sense of ownership, and the ability to prioritize multiple concurrent deals under tight deadlines. Preferred qualifications include in-house experience advising a high-growth company, particularly with direct experience supporting the Marketing function.
