Lead RF Systems Integration Engineer
STR is seeking a Lead RF Systems Integration Engineer to join their Sensors Division in Arlington, VA. This division focuses on developing advanced sensor systems and platforms to support national security requirements, including radar, electronic warfare, underwater acoustics, hyperspectral imaging, and EO/IR sensing. The APEX Group within the division specializes in developing RF/radar modes, skills, and applications, emphasizing advanced signal processing chains and algorithm research.
In this role, the engineer will lead RF testing, measurement, and characterization efforts across lab, integration, and system-level environments. They will develop a deep technical understanding of a third-party radar system, including RF architecture, signal chains, modes, interfaces, and operational constraints. The engineer will define and own the RF systems integration approach for implementing a new mode on an externally developed radar, translating system-level objectives into clear RF, interface, and integration requirements. They will design and validate integration strategies, collaborate closely with the external radar developer to resolve RF, system, and integration challenges, and lead integration test planning, execution, and analysis.
Candidates should have an active security clearance with eligibility to support special access programs, a PhD, MS, or BS in Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical discipline, and relevant experience designing, integrating, and testing RF sensor and/or communication systems. Strong scientific programming skills in Matlab, Python, Simulink, and/or C/C++ are required, along with the ability to translate customer requirements into research focus. Strong communication skills and the ability to describe complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences are essential.
The full-time salary range for this position is $160,000 - $220,000, based on external market data and factors such as experience, education, training, key skills, security clearances, and prevailing market and business conditions.
