Lead Product Engineer
The Lead Product Engineer at STR's Mission Applications (MA) Group plays a pivotal role in transforming conceptual ideas into operational mission applications. This position involves overseeing the entire product lifecycle, from design and testing to refinement, ensuring that solutions meet stringent standards for performance, reliability, and cost. The MA Group specializes in deploying STR's technology to address national security challenges, combining expertise in product management, software integration, mission engineering, and program management.
In this role, the Lead Product Engineer is responsible for developing software solutions that address immediate operational problems. This includes building and testing features within production software, focusing on simplicity, workflow supportability, reliability, durability, and user experience. The engineer will bridge the gap between concept and production, rapidly scaling processes from initial prototypes. Additionally, the role involves troubleshooting design flaws, optimizing production efficiency, and collaborating with product teams and end-users to translate customer needs into features.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, with at least five years of experience in building high-quality production software features. Proficiency in modern technologies such as React, TypeScript, and Python is essential. A passion for crafting user-centric interfaces and a keen eye for design details are highly valued. Experience in building production or enterprise-scale applications, familiarity with visual design tools, and fluency with software development best practices are advantageous. An active security clearance and an advanced degree in a related field are also beneficial.
The compensation for this full-time position ranges from $180,000 to $220,000 annually, based on factors such as experience, education, training, and prevailing market conditions.
