International Summer Clerk (81 ki) / インターナショナルサマークラーク(81期)
Clifford Chance is seeking ambitious individuals to join their International Summer Clerk program in Tokyo. This program offers participants the opportunity to work alongside experienced attorneys in a globally integrated law firm, gaining exposure to a wide range of legal practices and international clients.
As a Summer Clerk, you will assist attorneys with various tasks, including conducting legal research on statutes, case law, and legal literature. Responsibilities may also involve drafting memoranda, preparing and reviewing contracts, and attending meetings. Clerks will collaborate closely with attorneys on specific assignments and may have the opportunity to participate in in-house seminars. Proficiency in English is beneficial but not mandatory.
Eligible candidates are those planning to take the 2027 bar examination and enter the 81st judicial training term, including individuals who have passed or plan to take the preliminary bar examination by 2026. The program is scheduled for one of the following periods: August 26-28, September 2-4, or September 9-11, 2026. The office is located at Palace Building, 3rd Floor, 1-1-1 Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo. Working hours are from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with a one-hour lunch break.
Participants will receive a daily stipend of 10,000 yen. Transportation expenses from home or accommodation to the office will be reimbursed. For students residing outside the Tokyo metropolitan area, round-trip transportation to Tokyo and accommodation during the program will be provided.
