Head of Engineering

Workstream is seeking a Head of Engineering to lead its global engineering and QA organizations. As a mission-driven company, Workstream provides an all-in-one HR, payroll, and hiring platform tailored for the hourly workforce, which comprises 80% of the global workforce. The company has experienced rapid growth and is backed by prominent venture capital firms.

In this role, the Head of Engineering will oversee an organization of over 80 engineers and 12 QA professionals, with 70% of the engineering team based in China. Key responsibilities include leading and scaling the global engineering organization, optimizing delivery cycles, making critical architectural decisions, managing a distributed leadership team, fostering a unified engineering culture, and managing the engineering budget and headcount planning.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading engineering organizations of over 100 employees, fluency in Mandarin, deep understanding of both Chinese and Western business cultures, technical proficiency to engage with senior architects, comfort with regular international travel, experience in fast-paced environments, and a history of developing high-level engineering managers.

Compensation for this role includes a base salary range of $200,000 to $250,000, along with a discretionary bonus and equity package.
