Footwear Product Developer
Alo Yoga is seeking a detail-driven Footwear Product Developer to support the growth and elevation of our footwear business. This role manages the end-to-end development process—from concept through commercialization—ensuring precision, craftsmanship, and on-time execution. The ideal candidate brings a strong footwear development background in the footwear industry with a passion for premium materials, refined construction, and fit. Experience developing women's footwear and conducting detailed fit evaluations is highly valued, while the role supports footwear across all categories. This is an exciting opportunity to build deep footwear development expertise and grow alongside a rapidly expanding brand.
Key responsibilities include managing the product development process and calendar from concept to commercialization, partnering with Design to develop products using high-quality materials such as leather, suede, textiles, and specialty trims that align with Alo's premium aesthetic, and developing footwear styles that meet pricing targets while ensuring product performance integrity through testing. The role also involves maintaining accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs), costing, and development timelines within PLM, managing sample tracking and seasonal development status reporting to ensure on-time execution, and collaborating with Product Integrity to meet testing standards for buy-ready status. Additionally, the developer will execute product development according to seasonal critical dates, communicate technical specifications to footwear vendors, prepare weekly development reports, and conduct fit sessions and wear testing for each new style, with particular attention to women's-specific fit, comfort, and performance.
Candidates should have 3–5 years of experience in footwear development, ideally within premium or luxury categories, and a strong understanding of footwear construction, materials, and testing processes. Experience working with premium materials such as leather, suede, specialty textiles, and trims is essential, as is conducting fit sessions and wear testing; a background in women's footwear development and last evaluation is highly valued. An AA or BA in Fashion Design, Product Development, Footwear Design, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Merchandising, or equivalent experience is required. Prior footwear PLM experience is necessary, along with the ability to work independently and directly with overseas vendors. The role requires comfort operating in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
