Engineering Team Lead, AI Platform
Roofr is seeking an Engineering Team Lead to spearhead the development of our AI Platform. This pivotal role involves establishing the integration architecture, agent patterns, and core abstractions that will embed AI seamlessly into our product offerings. As a key contributor, you will collaborate across the entire engineering department, influencing how AI is integrated throughout the organization.
In this position, you will build and lead a team of platform engineers, setting technical direction, conducting code reviews, and mentoring team members. Your responsibilities include defining and constructing the application-layer foundation for AI, owning the integration architecture strategy, designing and maintaining third-party integration layers, and developing data pipelines that power our AI features. Ensuring platform reliability, performance, and an excellent developer experience are also critical aspects of this role.
The ideal candidate will have over 7 years of software development experience, including at least 3 years in a technical leadership role. Practical, hands-on experience in building production AI systems is essential, along with deep familiarity with LLM APIs and agent frameworks. A strong background in integration architecture, experience with data pipelines feeding AI systems, and backend engineering expertise are required. Proficiency in PHP/Laravel is advantageous, and a proven ability to take ownership and maintain high-quality standards is expected.
Roofr offers a competitive compensation range of $170,000 to $190,000 CAD.
