Engineering Intern - Retail Technology
ALO is seeking an Engineering Intern to join our Retail Technology team in San Ramon, California. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of technology solutions that enhance our in-store and omni-channel customer experiences. As an intern, you will work closely with engineers, product managers, and retail operations leaders to build scalable, cloud-native systems that support our retail operations.
In this position, you will develop and enhance microservices-based applications using Java and Python, and deploy scalable solutions leveraging AWS services such as Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, and RDS. Your responsibilities will include supporting database design and optimization using MySQL, integrating systems to power omni-channel retail flows, and contributing to Point of Sale (POS) feature enhancements. Additionally, you will participate in code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting production issues, while learning and contributing to CI/CD pipelines and cloud engineering best practices.
The ideal candidate is currently pursuing or has recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field. Proficiency in Java and Python, a foundational understanding of microservices architecture and RESTful APIs, and familiarity with AWS cloud services and relational databases like MySQL are essential. Strong problem-solving skills, the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and clear communication skills are also required.
This internship offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $45 to $50, depending on factors such as location, experience, and performance. Interns will work 40 hours per week at our San Ramon, CA office from June 8th to July 31st.
