Embedded Devices Software Solution Sales Director (Japan)
Canonical is seeking an Embedded Devices Software Solution Sales Director to join its globally distributed team. This role focuses on expanding the reach of Ubuntu, Canonical's widely adopted open-source platform, into mission-critical industries such as consumer electronics, industrial systems, automotive, and robotics. The position is remote, based in Japan, and involves collaboration with a diverse team spread across over 75 countries.
The primary responsibilities include developing and executing a territory sales plan targeting security-focused brands and manufacturers. The role involves promoting Canonical's brand, generating pipeline through outreach and industry events, and closing contracts to meet quarterly and annual booking targets. Managing customer relationships throughout the sales cycle and coordinating with field engineers to ensure customer satisfaction are also key aspects of the job.
Candidates should possess an exceptional academic track record and an undergraduate degree in a technical field. A proven history of exceeding sales targets, particularly in embedded Linux, embedded software, or enterprise software, is essential. Strong interpersonal skills, proficiency in English, and experience with Linux (preferably Debian or Ubuntu) are required. The role demands the ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events and up to 50% for customer meetings and industry events.
