Electromechanical Technician Lead
The Electromechanical Technician Lead at STR plays a pivotal role in assembling, testing, and maintaining complex electrical and electromechanical systems integral to national defense capabilities. In this hands-on technical lead position, the Electromechanical Technician Lead is responsible for assembling intricate components such as electronic chassis, racks, and mechanical assemblies. The role involves fabricating hardware, including wire harnesses and coaxial cables, and applying industry standards like IPC for electronics assembly. Additionally, the technician will support testing activities, read and revise technical documentation, and coordinate daily operations within the assembly bay, ensuring a clean, organized, and safe environment.
Candidates should possess an Associate’s degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent experience, with a minimum of six years in assembling, maintaining, testing, and repairing prototype or production systems. Experience with electromechanical hardware related to RF, radar, antenna, acoustic, and undersea products is essential. Proficiency in reading and interpreting work instructions and assembly drawings, along with excellent independent problem-solving skills, is required. Familiarity with tools and parts used in assembly, such as soldering equipment and power tools, is also necessary.
