Datavant is seeking a Health Information Specialist II to join our team dedicated to making health data secure, accessible, and actionable. This remote, full-time position operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM EST. The role is integral to our mission of providing critical data solutions across the healthcare ecosystem.

The Health Information Specialist II is responsible for managing advanced and complex Release of Information (ROI) requests, including subpoenas and legally sensitive records. Key responsibilities include processing high-volume ROI requests with a focus on accuracy and compliance, reviewing and validating authorizations and court documents, utilizing electronic medical record systems to retrieve and release medical records, and ensuring all disclosures meet HIPAA, state, and client-specific requirements. Additionally, the role involves maintaining detailed documentation, supporting quality assurance initiatives, and communicating professionally with internal teams regarding escalations or complex cases.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and be at least 18 years old. Prior experience in ROI processing is required, with a strong preference for experience handling subpoenas and legal ROI requests. Essential skills include strong attention to detail, advanced problem-solving abilities, effective time management, reliability, and adaptability in a fast-paced, remote production environment. Proficiency with computer applications, databases, and document management systems is also necessary.
