Director of Data Engineering
The Director of Data Engineering at ALO will lead the development and execution of the company's data engineering strategy. This role involves building and scaling a modern data platform to support business intelligence, personalization, supply chain optimization, and AI/ML initiatives across the organization. Key responsibilities include leading and mentoring a high-performing team of data engineers and architects, designing and implementing scalable, secure, and efficient data pipelines and infrastructure, and partnering with business leaders, product managers, and data scientists to deliver impactful data solutions. The role also involves overseeing the development and maintenance of data lakes, data warehouses, and real-time streaming systems, establishing best practices for data governance, quality, and compliance, and evaluating and implementing modern data tools and platforms.
The ideal candidate will have 8-10+ years of experience in data engineering or related fields, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Proven experience in building and scaling cloud-based data platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) is essential, along with expertise in SQL, Python, Spark, and modern data stack tools. A strong understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and real-time data processing is required. Experience supporting e-commerce, retail, or consumer brands is a plus. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills are also necessary. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.
The base salary range for this position is $250,000-$280,000 per year, representing the current range for this exempt position. Actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.
