As part of an AI-first engineering rebuild, Beast Industries is seeking a Data Scientist to join their team in San Mateo, CA. This role offers the opportunity to work on a zero-to-one build with no legacy constraints, directly shaping product decisions and growth strategies.
In this position, the Data Scientist will collaborate closely with engineers and product teams to transform ambiguous product questions into clear, data-backed answers. Responsibilities include designing and executing analyses that convert raw user behavior into actionable product insights, owning A/B experiments from design through statistical analysis to result interpretation and recommendation, and communicating findings effectively to product and engineering stakeholders. Additionally, the role involves leveraging AI tools to accelerate workflows, from data exploration and analysis to insight delivery and iteration.
Candidates should have over three years of hands-on experience in data science or analytics, with strong skills in SQL, Python, and statistical modeling. Experience with A/B experimentation frameworks and familiarity with major cloud data stacks (AWS, GCP, Databricks, Snowflake, or equivalent) are essential. The ideal candidate is AI-native, using AI tools daily to enhance efficiency, and is capable of translating vague product questions into tractable data problems, communicating findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders. A strong understanding of A/B testing principles and the ability to maintain statistical rigor under deadline pressure are also important.
The compensation package includes a base salary ranging from $178,000 to $223,000, along with equity and benefits. The position follows a hybrid model, with an expected in-office presence of approximately three days per week in San Mateo, CA.
