Data Center Engineer
IMC is seeking a hands-on Data Center Engineer to join our dynamic international team responsible for managing and operating our European Trading Infrastructure. This role is based in Amsterdam and involves close collaboration with System and Network Engineers, as well as business support teams. The position requires frequent travel and out-of-hours work in our European colocation facilities.
Key responsibilities include supporting the lifecycle of physical servers, network devices, and other IT infrastructure components. The engineer will perform physical installation and maintenance of server and network components, design rack layouts and patching schedules, troubleshoot hardware faults, and coordinate the RMA process with suppliers. Additional duties involve handling shipments and deliveries, managing hardware inventory, creating and maintaining technical documentation, liaising with data center remote hands support, and ensuring strong relationships with hardware vendors and hosting partners.
The ideal candidate will have over five years of hands-on experience in data center engineering or technical field support. A solid understanding of server, data storage, and network hardware is essential, along with knowledge of network cabling and optical transceivers. Experience in data center environments, particularly with racking and cabling, is required. Proficiency in Linux-based systems and networking, as well as scripting skills in Python and Bash to support automation and monitoring tasks, are highly desirable. The role demands excellent time management, a proactive problem-solving approach, flexibility, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment. Candidates must be capable of safely lifting and moving up to 25kg and possess a valid driving license.
