Criminal Defense Legal Assistant

The United Firm | La Liga Defensora, APC is seeking an experienced Criminal Defense Legal Assistant to join their San Jose office. This role is integral to the firm's operations, focusing on criminal defense cases. The Legal Assistant will report directly to the Department Supervisor and collaborate with the team to ensure efficient case management.

Key responsibilities include maintaining communication with clients, managing attorney schedules, preparing legal documents, and coordinating trial preparations. The Legal Assistant will also handle court calendars, issue subpoenas, request criminal history documentation, and assist victims with restitution information. Additionally, the role involves communicating with law enforcement and performing various office-related activities to support the department.

Candidates must be bilingual in English and Spanish and have previous experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal. Proficiency with case management software is required. A working knowledge of current legislative and regulatory guidelines in criminal defense is essential.
