Twilio is seeking a Counsel, Commercial to join its growing commercial legal team, supporting the Go-to-Market Sales team. This remote position is based in Canada and involves partnering with the enterprise sales team to manage the full life-cycle negotiation of complex enterprise sales deals. The role is integral to Twilio's legal team, which is known for providing practical and sound legal advice across the business.
In this role, the Counsel, Commercial will take ownership of reviewing, negotiating, drafting, and managing a wide range of legal agreements. They will advise Twilio’s internal clients on contract interpretation and negotiation, ensuring compliance with Twilio’s policies and applicable local laws and regulations. The position requires understanding the perspectives of both Twilio’s customers and internal clients to effectively address issues and solve problems.
Candidates should have strong academic credentials and a demonstrated record of success as a lawyer, with at least 5 years of commercial transactions experience, including at least 3 years of negotiating complex technology transactions such as SaaS agreements. Experience supporting a large sales organization is essential. The role requires the ability to structure, draft, and negotiate a high volume and broad range of commercial contracts, including Master Services Agreements, Professional Services Agreements, and Non-Disclosure Agreements. Candidates should be able to provide entrepreneurial, quick-thinking, pragmatic, business-oriented advice that balances legal risk and business reward. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are necessary, along with the ability to explain complex legal concepts in an understandable manner. The role also requires the ability to manage a heavy workflow efficiently.
This role offers competitive compensation, including a salary range of $120,640 to $150,800, with a target bonus percentage of 12.5%.
