Contractor Special Security Officer (CSSO)
The Contractor Special Security Officer (CSSO) at Systems & Technology Research (STR) is responsible for leading a Department of Defense (DoD) Special Access Program (SAP) portfolio at the Woburn, MA facility. This role involves collaborating with security management, program management, program personnel, and customer security to ensure compliance with U.S. Government directives, regulations, and requirements. The CSSO will primarily manage one DoD SAP customer, with potential future direct reports.
Key responsibilities include maintaining a robust security posture and compliance for multiple SAP programs in accordance with DoDM 5205.07, ICD 705, and IC/DOD security policies. The CSSO will serve as the primary liaison for SAP program security requirements, providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers. The role also involves partnering effectively with Program Managers and various security disciplines, including Personnel Security, ACSSOs, Classified Cybersecurity, Classified Information Technology, and the Facility Security Officer. Additional duties encompass leading government compliance inspections, conducting self-inspections, supporting staff assistance visits, and managing external/internal program security assessments. The CSSO will develop, review, and implement security policies, Standard Operating Procedures, Program Protection (P2), and OPSEC/transportation plans. Overseeing document control and classified material accountability, including duties as a SAP Accountability Officer, is also a key aspect of the role. The CSSO will write, interpret, and administer DD254s and supporting documentation, review operational requirements and system specification documents to ensure applicable security requirements are addressed, and interpret and implement security classification guidance for each respective program. Investigating and documenting security incidents, implementing corrective actions, attending and participating in security and program meetings, and developing and conducting initial and refresher program security briefings, debriefings, and foreign travel briefings are also part of the responsibilities.
Required qualifications include U.S. citizenship, an active Top Secret security clearance with SAP/SCI eligibility, and a minimum of 7 years of experience as a security representative with SAP/SCI security compliance. A bachelor's degree is preferred, or equivalent relevant security experience. Demonstrated knowledge of NISPOM, ICD 705, DoDM 5205.07, FOCI, ITAR, and relevant standards is essential. Proficiency with MS Office, DISS, JADE, SIMS, TALON, and NISS is required. Experience in interpreting and implementing security classifications, contracts, and incident response/mitigation is necessary. Successful completion of CDSE’s ‘Intro to SAPs’ is also required. Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to discreetly and diplomatically manage sensitive and complex communications, are crucial.
The full-time, onsite position in Woburn, MA offers a salary range of $152,000 to $175,000, based on external market data and factors such as the candidate’s experience, education, training, key skills, security clearances, and prevailing market and business conditions.
