Compliance Officer

The Senior Compliance Officer will act as a strategic partner to Trading and Technology, translating complex regulatory and market conduct requirements into clear, pragmatic, and commercially sound guidance. This role combines strong regulatory expertise with a deep understanding of trading strategies, algorithmic trading systems, and market structure to enable responsible innovation while maintaining the highest standards of market integrity.
Key responsibilities include acting as a trusted advisor to Trading & Technology on regulatory and market conduct matters, embedding compliance into strategic and operational decision-making, and building strong relationships across Trading desks and Technology teams. The role also involves serving as a subject matter expert on EU and Dutch financial regulation, translating regulatory and exchange requirements into risk-based, practical guidance, reviewing new trading strategies, algorithms, and technology developments, and conducting regulatory self-assessments. Additionally, the Senior Compliance Officer will monitor regulatory developments and enforcement actions, represent IMC in interactions with regulators, exchanges, and industry associations, coordinate responses to regulatory inquiries, examinations, and investigations, and support and manage regulatory reviews and projects. The role also includes supporting the development and maintenance of the compliance framework, ensuring compliance risks and issues are appropriately identified, escalated, and reported, preparing and presenting compliance reporting and management updates, contributing to surveillance design, assisting in investigations, drafting and updating compliance policies and procedures, and preparing and delivering compliance training.
The ideal candidate will have over 8 years of experience in compliance within financial markets, preferably in an algorithmic trading environment, with strong knowledge of regulations applicable to algorithmic trading firms (MiFID/RTS 6) and a solid understanding of global financial markets and market structure. Experience partnering with Trading and Technology in a business-aligned role and interacting with regulators and managing regulatory inquiries is essential. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail, excellent judgment and decision-making ability, clear, concise written and verbal communication skills in English, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment are required. Strong stakeholder management skills across all seniority levels, a structured, proactive, and hands-on approach, a high sense of ownership and accountability, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines are also important. Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel and being a collaborative team player are essential.
