Clifford Chance, a leading international law firm with over 30 offices worldwide, is seeking a Business Development Manager for its Global Intellectual Property (IP) team within the Corporate Transactions & Advisory sector. This role is based in London and is integral to the firm's ambitious global strategy, which places clients at the center of its operations. The Business Development (BD) function plays a pivotal role in translating this strategy into reality by collaborating with partners, lawyers, and other business professionals to drive sustainable growth. The BD team supports the conversion of key client and market opportunities through the development and delivery of targeted business development and marketing plans.

In this hands-on and proactive role, the Business Development Manager will work closely with other BD team members and act as a key point of contact for relevant product stakeholders within the firm. The primary responsibility is to support the execution of the broader BD strategy, focusing on client and market business development within the Global IP Team, encompassing both Corporate Transactions & Advisory and Disputes. This position offers an excellent opportunity to engage in client and market business development within a professional services environment, delivering tangible results as part of a global BD team.

Key responsibilities include developing and supporting the implementation of BD and marketing plans aligned with the firm's global strategy, tracking progress against these plans to achieve overarching goals, and supporting research initiatives on regional product and market trends, clients, prospects, and competitors to inform strategic marketing decisions. The role also involves managing the quality of output to ensure partner expectations are met, supporting the relevant product group in implementing its BD plan, and working with stakeholders to develop and shape BD product offerings and initiatives. Additionally, the manager will promote BD offerings within the product group and the firm, proactively identify market trends and opportunities, and provide tailored input into significant product pitches, updating and maintaining capability statements.

Candidates should have previous experience in professional services business development, preferably within a law firm, and a strong interest in and understanding of the products relevant to this role. A sound commercial awareness of legal market development, particularly concerning the relevant products, is essential. The ability to develop advisory relationships with partners, strong project management and organizational skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work as part of a team with lawyers of all seniority levels are also required. A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline is necessary.

Clifford Chance offers a comprehensive range of benefits to support various aspects of personal and professional life, including financial, wellbeing, lifestyle, and family-friendly benefits. The firm is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive work environment, fostering continuous learning and development opportunities. The role follows a 'balanced' hybrid working approach, with the expectation of working from the office for a minimum of 50% of the time, allowing flexibility while meeting business needs.

Joining Clifford Chance means becoming part of a diverse and ambitious team, where the brightest minds and best colleagues meet. The firm's inclusive, friendly, and team-based approach to work ensures that every career is rewarding and stimulating, full of opportunities to learn, thrive, and grow. With a global presence and a focus on targeted growth led by the needs of core clients, Clifford Chance provides a truly international perspective and a platform for professional development and success.
