AVP, Underwriting- West Mid-Market
The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Underwriting for the West Mid-Market at Cowbell Cyber Inc. is a senior leadership role focused on expanding and managing a profitable mid-market cyber insurance portfolio across the Western United States. This position requires a professional adept at building and maintaining strong broker relationships, with a keen understanding of cyber risk exposures and underwriting practices. The AVP will play a pivotal role in shaping Cowbell's underwriting strategy within a rapidly evolving cyber risk environment.
Key responsibilities include developing and expanding broker relationships to generate sustainable new business opportunities, underwriting and managing a profitable portfolio of cyber and technology risks in line with company guidelines, and driving renewal retention through exceptional service delivery and strategic account management. The AVP will also evaluate submissions, negotiate terms, and structure deals that balance growth objectives with portfolio profitability, while monitoring market trends and emerging cyber threats to inform underwriting decisions.
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience, with a minimum of 5+ years of underwriting experience in Cyber, Tech Errors & Omissions (E&O), or related specialty lines, focusing on mid-market business. Strong technical underwriting knowledge, proven success in producing profitable new and renewal business, and established broker development and relationship management skills are essential. Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate strong negotiation skills, commercial acumen, and a collaborative mindset with experience working across underwriting, sales, and support teams.
