Autonomy Software Engineer
The Autonomy Software Engineer position at STR's Sensors Division in Arlington, VA, involves developing and integrating advanced sensor systems to enhance national security. The team focuses on technologies such as airborne, surface, and space-based radar, electronic warfare, underwater acoustics, hyperspectral imaging, and EO/IR sensing. The Systems Autonomy, Analysis, and Modeling (SAAM) Group within this division specializes in modeling and simulation to analyze system capabilities, develop enabling algorithms, and integrate these systems through testing.
In this role, the engineer will collaborate with subject matter experts to integrate mature hardware systems, develop code, and implement real-time applications using Modern C++. Responsibilities include system development, system testing utilizing Live-Virtual-Constructive (LVC) infrastructure, leading small teams, and engaging with customers to understand their requirements and guide product development.
Candidates should possess strong proficiency in modern C++ development, including multi-threaded applications, and experience with test-driven development and CI/CD practices. Familiarity with cross-platform development (Windows, Linux, iOS), hardware/software integration, and the ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance are also required. A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience with a PhD, 5 years with an MS, or 7 years with a BS is expected.
The position offers a competitive salary range of $174,000 to $225,000, based on factors such as experience, education, training, key skills, security clearances, and prevailing market conditions.
