Associate Product Counsel

As an Associate Product Counsel at Dropbox, you will play a pivotal role in advising our product and security teams on legal matters, ensuring the company remains at the forefront of user data protection and privacy. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams to implement privacy by design principles and address legal challenges associated with AI and machine learning technologies. Your contributions will directly impact Dropbox's commitment to maintaining trust and compliance in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

In this role, your primary responsibilities will include counseling on user privacy and data protection issues, investigating and assessing security and privacy incidents, and driving legal and regulatory responses. You will provide legal support to Dropbox’s incident response program, advise on cross-functional projects related to data protection and privacy by design, review new products and features for launch readiness, and offer sophisticated advice to engineers working on security, threat intelligence, and abuse issues.

The ideal candidate will have 1–3+ years of experience counseling and/or litigating product, security, or data privacy matters. A broad knowledge of data privacy law, information security and cybersecurity, AI/ML, copyright, consumer protection, content regulation, and free expression issues is essential. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong business judgment, and outstanding interpersonal skills are required. A J.D. from an accredited law school and admission in good standing to at least one U.S. state bar are also necessary.

Dropbox offers a competitive compensation package, with salary ranges varying based on location. For US Zone 2, the annual salary ranges from $166,800 to $225,600, and for US Zone 3, from $148,200 to $200,600. In addition to salary, employees are eligible for the corporate bonus program and stock in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
