Associate General Counsel - AI & Product Development
The Associate General Counsel – AI & Product Development at NIQ is a pivotal role within the Privacy, Product, & AI Legal team, focusing on enterprise-wide initiatives in artificial intelligence, product development, privacy, and data governance. This position offers high-impact responsibilities and cross-functional visibility, ideal for a lawyer passionate about emerging technologies and ready to evolve into a strategic legal advisor. The role supports the development, governance, and implementation of safe and responsible AI systems for global deployment.
Key responsibilities include advising on the creation and deployment of AI and data-driven products, ensuring compliance with global laws throughout the product lifecycle. The role involves collaboration with Product, Technology, Engineering, and Data Science teams to integrate data governance and responsible AI frameworks into new product initiatives. Additionally, the position requires reviewing and interpreting global AI and data regulations applicable to product features, documentation, and client deliverables, and preparing external-facing product documentation for regulatory compliance and client assurance.
The ideal candidate holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school, with 5-10 years of relevant legal experience in law firms, governmental agencies, and/or in-house legal departments for data and/or technology companies. At least 5 years of experience providing product counseling, particularly in areas involving data use, automation, or machine learning in a fast-paced, global business setting, is required. The candidate should possess exceptional communication skills and technical fluency, with proven experience in AI governance, AI ethical frameworks, data protection/privacy laws, and cybersecurity frameworks.
