Clifford Chance is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Capital Markets Associate to join its dynamic team in Hong Kong. This role involves working on a diverse range of Debt Capital Markets (DCM) and Equity Capital Markets (ECM) transactions, requiring a deep understanding of financial markets and the ability to navigate complex legal and regulatory frameworks across multiple jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating documentation for international bond offerings, medium-term note programmes, regulatory capital instruments, hybrid securities, and equity-linked products such as convertible and exchangeable bonds. The associate will liaise with regulatory authorities, stock exchanges, and other stakeholders to facilitate the issuance of debt and equity securities, conduct legal research, and advise on regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and market practices in capital markets. Collaboration with cross-border teams to ensure seamless transaction execution and participation in client meetings to discuss transaction structures and legal issues are also integral to the role.

The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in law, finance, or related disciplines, with 2–4 years of relevant experience in capital markets at a leading law firm or financial institution. A solid understanding of international capital markets, securities laws, and regulatory frameworks is essential, along with excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills. The ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines with attention to detail, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and a client-focused mindset are also required. Fluency in English and proficiency in Mandarin are mandatory.

Associates are given responsibility for running transactions and working closely with clients and other lawyers, allowing them to develop outstanding transaction management and organisational skills, as well as superb technical abilities.

The firm is committed to treating all employees and applicants fairly and equally, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, marital or civil partnership status, race, colour, national or ethnic origin, social or economic background, disability, religious belief, sexual orientation, or age.
