Application Engineer, Injection Molding
Xometry is seeking a driven and technically-minded Application Engineer specializing in injection molding to join our team. In this role, you'll serve as a critical link between our customers, sales team, and engineering efforts, supporting a diverse range of industries including aerospace, defense, commercial, automotive, industrial, and medical devices. Your expertise in injection molding will be instrumental in analyzing customer requests, providing crucial design-for-manufacturing feedback, and shaping custom solutions that meet our clients' needs.
Key responsibilities include analyzing and preparing RFQs by retrieving and organizing quote request information from various channels, such as RFQ documents, 3D CAD files, and 2D drawings. You'll proactively engage with customers to clarify requirements and address any discrepancies in documentation. Conducting thorough reviews of 3D models and 2D drawings to provide design-for-manufacturing feedback and supporting the creation of accurate quotes using Xometry's internal systems are also essential duties. Additionally, you'll perform basic file modifications and repairs using software like SolidWorks, Inventor, or Magics to ensure manufacturability. Maintaining and updating quote databases in real-time to ensure data accuracy and accessibility, responding to service requests via ZenDesk and email, and collaborating closely with Applications Engineering and Sales to define and package custom requests for customer delivery are integral parts of the role.
The ideal candidate will possess an associate degree or higher in a technology field or equivalent practical experience. A strong interest and aptitude in technical tools, including experience with or a willingness to learn 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or Magics, and 2D drawing review are essential. Demonstrated technical aptitude to quickly grasp general technical aspects of various manufacturing technologies is required. Being customer-service oriented with excellent communication skills, capable of interacting politely and enthusiastically with both customers and coworkers, is crucial. Vocational training or direct experience in injection molding is highly desired, and familiarity with die casting, stamping, and metal extrusion is a plus.
Xometry offers a competitive compensation package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with company match, paid time off and holidays, and flexible work arrangements. We are committed to providing professional development and training opportunities to support your career growth.
