Application Engineer, CNC & Sheet
Xometry is seeking an Application Engineer to join our Sales and Engineering teams in Bangalore, India. In this role, you will analyze CAD models and technical drawings, assess manufacturability, calculate costs, and provide design for manufacturability (DFM) feedback to ensure accurate and timely quoting for our customers. This position combines deep technical expertise in manufacturing processes with strong analytical and communication skills.
Key responsibilities include analyzing drawings and CAD models, calculating manufacturing costs encompassing materials, machining hours, and post-processing, and providing recommendations on manufacturing processes as needed. You will document and transfer calculations to the Sales/Commercial team, review 3D models and 2D drawings for quoting and manufacturability feedback, and organize RFQs while clarifying details with Sales and Engineering teams. Maintaining quote databases, ensuring timely updates, delivering high-quality and accurate quotes ideally within 1–2 working hours, and supporting process automation initiatives and workflow optimization are also integral to this role.
The ideal candidate holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Process Engineering, or a related technical field, with over 5 years of experience in metalworking or mechanical engineering. Expertise in machining and fabrication processes such as turning, milling, CNC machining, EDM, laser/waterjet/plasma cutting, sheet metal processing, and welding is essential. A solid understanding of post-processing methods like polishing, hardening, heat treatment, anodizing, sand/shot blasting, coatings, and painting is required. Proficiency in English at a B2+ level, a customer-oriented mindset with the ability to clearly explain technical details, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work under time pressure are crucial. Additionally, being an IT enthusiast ready to adopt modern tools and software (CAD/CAM, CRM, cloud systems) is important.
Xometry offers a dynamic work environment with a hybrid work model, requiring three days per week in the office. The initial three months involve a hybrid shift, transitioning to a day shift thereafter.
