Transportation Project Engineer
Benesch is seeking an experienced Transportation Project Engineer to join our team dedicated to enhancing transportation infrastructure. This role involves planning, engineering design, and construction oversight for public agency projects. The successful candidate will prepare and review plans, technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates for various transportation projects, while also mentoring and supervising technical support personnel.
Key responsibilities include developing detailed designs for urban and rural roadways from preliminary to final stages, collaborating with team members and stakeholders to define project requirements, and compiling plans, specifications, cost estimates, and pay items. The engineer will support studies and alternative analyses to determine optimal solutions that meet compliance and client goals, ensuring deliverables are complete, accurate, and of high quality. Additionally, the role involves contributing to proposal development, managing small projects or project tasks, assisting Project Managers in large project delivery, and maintaining project documentation.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or higher and demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment on challenging projects. Effective communication skills and the capability to develop task deliverables in a complete and reviewable manner are essential. Experience working with local and state public agency clients, such as Public Works and Departments of Transportation, is required. Proficiency with OpenRoads Designer (ORD) design software and excellent verbal and written communication skills are also necessary. A Kansas and/or Missouri Professional Engineer license or the ability to obtain one upon hire is preferred, along with project experience in transportation engineering design.
