Transit Event Customer Service
Benesch is seeking individuals to serve as Transit Ambassadors on an on-call basis in the Baltimore area, supporting the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA). This role offers a chance to positively impact the community by assisting MTA customers, particularly those with disabilities, ensuring equitable access to transit facilities. The position is ideal for those seeking temporary employment to supplement their income when work is available.
Key responsibilities include directing customers as they enter or exit stations, board vehicles, or use fare vending machines. Transit Ambassadors are also tasked with inspecting transit station facilities to maintain cleanliness and safety. Additionally, they provide customer service support during bus bridges or shuttles necessitated by construction on transit tracks or stations, as well as during road construction leading to bus detours.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED equivalent. A working cell phone with WiFi/data capability is required. The role demands the ability to stand for a minimum of 4 hours, with shifts potentially extending up to 8-12 hours based on the applicant's capacity. Proficiency in using apps and a willingness to familiarize oneself with the Transit App are essential for providing customer support during special events. Strong customer service skills are crucial, as the position involves direct interaction with the public to ensure a positive experience as the face of the company.
The pay rate for this position is $17.53 per hour. As this role is on an on-call basis and works for a third-party contractor, it does not include benefits. However, Benesch offers a generous paid time benefits plan that increases throughout your career, plus several paid holidays. Their benefits include medical, dental, and vision benefits, company-paid life insurance, short-term and long-term disability plans, a 401K plan, and profit-sharing contributions to the 401K plan.
