Technical Accounting & Policy

Stripe is seeking an experienced Policy & Technical Accountant to analyze and account for complex projects, ensuring compliance with US GAAP. The role involves evaluating accounting issues in areas such as revenue, consolidations, financial instruments, foreign currency, leases, investments, stock-based compensation, debt/equity, and business combinations. The successful candidate will develop and maintain accounting policy documentation and collaborate cross-functionally within the Accounting organization.

Responsibilities include assessing, researching, analyzing, and documenting accounting policy considerations for Stripe transactions, policy elections, adoption of new reporting and accounting standards, and other technical matters, particularly concerning new product or service rollouts. The role requires working closely with various business partners to ensure the Controllership organization can operationalize accounting requirements and stay current with changes in accounting standards and industry practices.

Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in Accounting and 10-15 years of relevant work experience, preferably in the payments industry, financial services, tech, or public accounting firms. Demonstrated technical expertise in FASB standards and SEC regulations is essential, along with exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. A CPA (or equivalent) is required.
