Benesch is seeking a Structural Bridge Project Engineer to join our Kansas division. This role involves working within a team of professionals to design, load rate, and inspect bridge structures, primarily for MoDOT and KDOT projects. The position offers a hybrid work schedule, with office locations in Kansas City, KS; Topeka, KS; Wichita, KS; Manhattan, KS; Lenexa, KS; and Kansas City, MO.

Key responsibilities include preparing and reviewing structural and geometrical calculations for bridge design projects, managing the compilation and coordination of plans, specifications, cost estimates, and pay items in accordance with DOT standards. The engineer will also prepare and review bridge load rating reports, plan and perform bridge and tunnel inspections, and coordinate these tasks with the Project Manager. Leading structural designers and inspectors on bridge design, load rating, and inspection projects is also a critical aspect of the role.

The ideal candidate will hold a B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline and possess a PE License in Missouri and/or Kansas, or have the ability to obtain one. A minimum of 4 years of bridge design, load rating, and/or inspection experience is required. Preferred qualifications include successful completion of FHWA-NHI courses such as Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges, Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges, and Bridge Inspection Refresher Training. Experience working with MoDOT, KDOT, and/or municipalities is also desirable.
