Stormwater/Drainage Engineer
Benesch is seeking a Stormwater/Drainage Engineer to join our team, focusing on a diverse array of stormwater projects. These include standalone initiatives such as drainage studies, watershed modeling, floodplain mapping, and conceptual alternatives analysis. Additionally, the role involves integrating design components like flood mitigation, stormwater master planning, waterway restoration, water quality best management practices (BMPs), and stormwater design. The engineer will also support transportation project designs across the company.
Key responsibilities encompass performing hydrologic and hydraulic analyses of open channels and closed storm drainage systems; designing components for open channels, culverts, bridges, and storm sewer infrastructure; conducting scour analysis and streambank stabilization; and developing flood inundation mapping. The role requires active contribution to a collaborative team environment, ensuring high-quality engineering solutions.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline. An Engineer-in-Training (EIT) license is required, with a Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. The ideal candidate will have 0-4 years of water resources experience and demonstrate proficiency in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling programs such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, EPA-SWMM, PC-SWMM, HY-8, StormCAD, CivilStorm, Watershed Modeling System (WMS), Surface Modeling System (SMS)/SRH-2D, FHWA Hydraulic Toolbox, CUHP, and FLO-2D. Experience with GIS applications, including ArcPro, ArcMap, and ESRI products, as well as plan production software like AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation/OpenRoads, is also desired.
The expected compensation range for this position is $65,000 to $95,000 annually, based on factors such as education, qualifications, prior work experience, and geographic location.
