Staff Software Engineer / Technical Lead Manager - Mapping
As a Staff Software Engineer and Technical Lead Manager in the Mapping team at Waymo, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the company's autonomous driving technology. In this position, you will lead a team of software engineers to scale and transform Waymo's mapping infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include evaluating and deploying machine learning models that generate maps from raw data, collaborating with onboard teams to evolve mapping formats for enhanced automation, and building robust backend systems for storing and processing diverse map data. Additionally, you will work on scaling systems to support global mapping efforts.
The ideal candidate will have over seven years of experience in software engineering, with at least two years in a managerial role. A proven track record of leading teams through complex technical challenges is essential. Experience with large-scale data processing frameworks such as Google Data Flow or Apache Beam is required. A willingness to take ownership of problems end-to-end and work across various parts of the system, along with a passion for high-quality software engineering, is highly valued.
Waymo offers a competitive base salary ranging from $238,000 to $302,000 annually, depending on factors such as location, experience, and skill level.
