Staff Software Engineer (Platform)
Chainguard is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our Developer Platform team, responsible for building and maintaining the internal infrastructure and automation tools that enable our engineers to deliver secure software at scale. This team plays a critical role in eliminating developer toil and accelerating the delivery of hardened artifacts to our customers. As a member of this team, you will own significant portions of our internal platform, including monorepo CI/CD pipelines, our Agentic AI platform (DriftlessAF), shared build infrastructure, and the foundational processes for code validation and deployment.
In this role, you will take ownership of key components of the Developer Platform, contributing to technical direction and collaborating with engineering leaders across the organization. Your responsibilities will include improving the speed, reliability, and developer experience of our monorepo CI/CD pipeline, developing the next generation of change throughput systems to support agent-driven changes, and productionizing our Agentic AI platform by enhancing observability and shared memory capabilities. Additionally, you will work to consolidate fragmented build systems and deliver standardized blueprints to facilitate rapid product deployment. Partnering directly with engineers across the company, you will identify and automate repetitive manual tasks, treating internal teams as customers of the platform. Mentoring teammates and raising the bar on design and code reviews will also be key aspects of your role.
The ideal candidate will have over 8 years of experience building and operating production services and platform infrastructure in modern cloud environments. Proficiency in Go is essential, or a strong readiness to ramp up quickly. Deep technical expertise in CI/CD systems, container-based orchestration, and the tooling required to scale a large monorepo across build, test, and release is required. Experience contributing to technical direction across multiple teams, evaluating trade-offs, and building alignment around target architectures is important. Familiarity with Agentic AI and LLM-based automation in production, as well as an interest in context engineering at platform scale, will be beneficial. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, along with a track record of identifying and automating away repetitive manual work, are highly valued. Comfort with ambiguity and a focus on data-driven improvements to product delivery are also key attributes.
