Staff Platform Engineer | Observability
Wellhub is seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to join our Platform team in Brazil, focusing on enhancing our Observability ecosystem. This remote position is open exclusively to candidates residing in Brazil. As a rapidly growing company with a high-scale distributed architecture, we aim to transform Observability into a strategic asset using open-source standards, empowering engineering teams to confidently own their builds.
In this role, you will take full ownership of our observability stack, ensuring its resilience and scalability to support our growth. Responsibilities include evolving and maintaining a cloud-native infrastructure based on Kubernetes, designing self-service platforms that balance performance with cost-effectiveness, and solving complex challenges related to high-cardinality metrics, log retention strategies, and distributed tracing. You will also design "Golden Paths" to enable developers to instrument their code efficiently, providing high-fidelity signals without operational overhead.
The ideal candidate will have proven technical experience with observability practices and tooling, including metrics, logs, traces, and profiling. Proficiency with major cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, and their ecosystems for building cloud-native applications is essential. Deep knowledge of Kubernetes and its ecosystem, hands-on experience with tools like Prometheus, Thanos, Grafana, Loki, Tempo, or similar open-source solutions, and experience with OpenTelemetry infrastructure and instrumentation are required. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to translate technical complexities into clear, actionable guidance for various stakeholders, are also necessary.
