Sr. Software Development Manager, Community Discovery
As a Senior Software Development Manager on the Community Discovery team at Twitch, you will lead one of three engineering teams dedicated to building innovative discovery experiences. This role involves close collaboration with an applied science team to integrate advanced algorithms into production systems, directly impacting millions of daily active users. Twitch is the world's largest live streaming service, fostering global communities around gaming, entertainment, music, sports, cooking, and more.
In this position, you will oversee the development of software and services that power critical discovery features, including recommendations, search, feed ranking, and notification relevance. Your work will help creators connect with their audiences and enable viewers to discover content they love. You will also be responsible for designing and operating consumer-scale services that serve tens of millions of users daily, as well as enabling machine learning applications at scale.
The ideal candidate will have a BA/BS in computer science or equivalent industry experience, with at least 3 years of experience as a software engineering manager and 5 years in software engineering. Proficiency in general-purpose programming languages such as Golang, Python, C/C++, or Java is required. Experience in designing or architecting systems with a focus on reliability and scalability, as well as a proven ability to identify user needs and deliver customer-centric product solutions, is essential. Additionally, experience in developing and running large-scale consumer services is expected.
Compensation for this role ranges from $166,400 to $287,700 USD per year, reflecting the cost of labor across various U.S. geographic markets. Pay is based on factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Additional forms of compensation, such as equity and sign-on payments, may be provided as part of a total compensation package, along with a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
