Sr. Software Development Manager, Community Discovery
As a Senior Software Development Manager on the Community Discovery team at Twitch, you will lead one of three engineering teams dedicated to building innovative discovery experiences. This role involves close collaboration with an applied science team to integrate advanced algorithms into production systems, directly impacting millions of daily active users. You will oversee the development of software and services that power critical discovery features, including recommendations, search, feed ranking, and notification relevance, facilitating connections between creators and their audiences.
Your key responsibilities will include designing and operating consumer-scale services that deliver recommendations, ranking, and search results to tens of millions of users daily. You will enable machine learning applications at scale and partner with applied scientists and other engineering teams to design ML-powered systems that effectively address customer needs. Additionally, you will drive the professional growth and career advancement of team members through structured development planning, mentorship, and strategic talent management.
The ideal candidate will possess a BA/BS in computer science or equivalent industry experience, with at least 3 years as a software engineering manager and over 5 years in software engineering. Proficiency in general-purpose programming languages such as Golang, Python, C/C++, or Java is required. Experience in designing or architecting new and existing systems with a focus on design patterns, reliability, and scalability is essential. A proven ability to identify user needs and deliver customer-centric product solutions, along with experience in developing and running large-scale consumer services, is highly desirable.

The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400 to $287,700 USD per year, reflecting the cost of labor across various U.S. geographic markets. Compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, with additional forms of compensation such as equity and sign-on payments potentially included as part of the total compensation package.
