As a Senior Data Scientist I at Smarsh, you will analyze unstructured communications data to develop solutions that address customer challenges. This role involves collaborating with other Senior Data Scientists and mentoring Associate Data Scientists in analyzing complex data, generating insights, and creating solutions across various tools and platforms. The position offers exposure to taking machine learning and analytics research to production, interfacing with business leaders, machine learning researchers, data engineers, platform engineers, and data scientists.
Key responsibilities include collecting, analyzing, and interpreting datasets to support the development of statistical methods and machine learning algorithms. You will develop machine learning models and other analytics, perform data annotation and quality reviews, conduct exploratory data analysis, and draft methodology, results, and insights reports. Additionally, you will provide guidance to junior team members on model development and exploratory data analysis, work with product managers to translate project requirements into technical tasks, and engage in continuous self-led personal development.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related scientific field, with 3-5 years of experience in data and analytics. Proficiency in Python, SQL, and NoSQL databases is required, along with experience in data science and machine/deep learning frameworks such as scikit-learn, H2O, Keras, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Pandas, and NumPy. A strong command of data science and statistics principles, including regression, Bayesian methods, time series analysis, clustering, and exploratory data analysis, is essential. Knowledge of natural language processing (NLP) techniques, including transfer learning, word embedding models, and transformer models, is also necessary. Familiarity with microservices architecture, continuous delivery concepts, and tools like Helm, Docker, and Kubernetes is advantageous. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a collaborative team-oriented approach are important.
