Canonical is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead the redevelopment of its Landscape systems management solution for Ubuntu. This role involves overseeing a technical team, driving software engineering practices, and collaborating across teams to enhance enterprise estate management capabilities.

Key responsibilities include building and leading a team of engineers, focusing on talent development and coaching. The manager will demonstrate sound engineering principles, contribute to team goals through technical work, set and manage expectations with other teams and stakeholders, and lead modern, agile software development practices. Additionally, the role involves maintaining a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with company values, building automated, reliable pipelines for image delivery, testing, and publication, and engaging with internal teams, the open-source community, and external partners.

The ideal candidate will have technical leadership experience and a background in software engineering. Proficiency in Python and Golang is required, along with experience in code reviews and architectural leadership. A commitment to healthy engineering practices, documentation, quality, and performance optimization is essential. The candidate should have practical experience with Linux system administration and hold a Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field. Effective written and verbal communication skills are also necessary.
