Software Engineer (SWE3) (India)
Karat is seeking a Software Engineer (SWE3) to join our Engineering team, dedicated to building predictive, inclusive, and fair interviewing products for clients and technical candidates. This remote position is open exclusively to candidates residing in Bengaluru, India, and requires a schedule overlapping with U.S. business hours.
In this role, you will design and build features across the full stack using various programming languages, testing frameworks, and development tools. Responsibilities include writing clean, scalable services, components, and APIs, making sound architectural decisions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to define and deliver product features. You will also champion engineering best practices, including testing strategies, performance optimization, and technical debt management.
The ideal candidate has over 5 years of professional experience designing and shipping web applications and distributed systems to production. Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Ruby, Python, React, and TypeScript/JavaScript is required, along with experience in system architecture, database design, and API development (REST and/or GraphQL). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities in English, and an interest in technical interviewing, talent assessment, or edtech are also desired.
