Cresta is seeking a Software Engineer Intern to join their team in Toronto, Canada. The intern will contribute to building systems that power real-time, AI-driven customer interactions, focusing on areas such as AI Agents & Automation, Real-Time Agent Assist, Conversation Intelligence, AI Evaluation & Reliability, and Platform & Infrastructure.

In this role, the intern will design and build systems supporting real-time AI-powered customer interactions, collaborate with engineers, product, and ML teams to deliver production-ready solutions, and work on features integrating large language models (LLMs), data systems, and user-facing applications. Responsibilities also include building systems for evaluation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of AI behavior, optimizing for low latency, high throughput, and reliability at scale, and taking ownership of problems end-to-end—from identifying gaps to shipping solutions.

Candidates should have experience with one or more programming languages, such as Python, Go, Java, JavaScript, or TypeScript. An interest in building user-facing products, backend systems, or real-time/data-intensive applications is essential. Familiarity with modern web development, APIs, or system design fundamentals is expected. A curiosity about LLMs, AI agents, or production AI systems is beneficial, though prior machine learning experience is not required. Experience using AI-powered developer tools to accelerate development workflows is a plus.
